Back in 2019 I posted about my reconstruction of the wrecked ship that sits outside of the cantina in Mos Eisley. Here's an update on that.

I created the model from a perspective match of the film set to get the proportions and scale. Later I came across a sketch that was drawn by Star Wars production designer John Barry, which showed what the full ship might be shaped like. I detailed the rest with my library of greebles built up over the years creating other Star Wars ships, and painted it up a bit like the Falcon filming model.

Sharp eyed observers might spot big Q-shaped logo on the side, this is my homage to the Pirate Ship concept model by Colin Cantwell

Fun tidbit, my version is technically canonical. Model maker Jason Eaton snuck a print of a file I sent him into a High Republic filming miniature. https://www.starwars.com/news/jason-eaton-starlight-beacon

Mos Eisley Wreck

One last hidden ship in A New Hope...

I received a message from a fan who had a sketch by John Barry from '75 that showed the intended shape of the wreckage

Here is my reconstruction

Slow night at the Cantina

plus, thanks the those new continuity photos that have been going around, got to model that thing in the corner up by the ceiling. Looks like it's going an upside down R2 dome at the end, and then some other cylindrical part.

Two for One Deal

On a roll here. Another speeder knocked off my list; the "Mobquet" Speeder. The guy on the right is only partially visible in two scenes at Mos Eisley. One is parked outside the cantina, and another is seen as Luke is selling his speeder. The ship on the left is the "Ubrickkian" Speeder, which supposedly gets its name as a tribute to Stanley Kubrick. This one I've had a model of for a while, but I cemented some parts on it.

(look to the far left for the "Mobquet Speeder")

Both of these appeared in the same Balantine Books publication with the Void-Spider in the previous post.
