random holochess discovery

I was looking at the holochess table in the ESB main hold and it has some details that are different than the ANH version. ESB has these big white rectangular greebles, instead of the silver knobs on ANH. In fact they're still present on the table that's on display at disney studios

Knobs version on A New Hope

Slots version on Empire

then I was looking closer at the bits and realized they looked like upside down rocker switches
that are standard all over the Falcon

when I put the rockers I'd already built into place they fit perfectly.

the bottom of them, if they are rockers, look pretty manufactured to me. I know that a bunch of the rockers in the real props are just painted wood, but at some point it was theorized they were based on something else, some other found part. Maybe seeing the bottom of them will jog someone's memory?

here's the complete set in the latest version of my ESB intieror model

the Star Wars (1955)

had a quick update for this vague on-going project of mine where I imagine that Star Wars is a remake of a long forgotten 50s TV show.

this is what Boba Fett's ship, Slave 1, might look like

ESB Falcon interior - New Cockpit

here's another small update, working on bringing my cockpit in-line with the rest of my new photomatched interior. So far I've been able to pull in old models of the cockpit, move a few bits around, add a few bits I missed. One thing I'm seeing is that when I compare it the force awakens sets, which are basically ESB with tweaks, they really, REALLY, did their homework. Whatever else you could say about those movies, they really did the Falcon right in a way that's frankly amazing (imagine what could've been... imagine a fully redesigned Falcon-- Star Trek 2009 style. *DEEP SHUDDER OF HORROR*)

ESB Falcon Interior

Testing out Twinmotion on the ESB interior model I've been working on. Still figuring it out, lots of funky camera moves, and lighting issues, but as a quick experiment I'm pretty happy with this! I've been doing interior renders like this since at least 2012, and this process is about a thousand times quicker and more satisfying than those early version, heh. Still so much to learn, but slow and steady wins the race... right?

McQuarrie concept ship

Working on a Mando cockpit but in the meantime, this is a fun little ship I always loved when I’d flip through my worn copy of From Star Wars to Indiana Jones. It’s listed in the book as a Joe Johnston design, among many early Falcon sketches but might actually be a concept sketch by Ralph McQuarrie for Return of the Jedi-- it shows up in a few sketches by him for that movie.

Either way, I was somehow able to work my photomatch magic on it!
